Recent changes to Ontario Regulation 243/07 came into effect July 1, 2017. By law, if you own or operate a school, private school or child care centre you must sample your water to test for lead. The Ontario drinking water quality standard for lead is 10 µg/L (10 micrograms per Litre) per litre.

Timelines to be aware of

After the amendments to O. Reg. 243/07 in 2017, school boards, private schools and licensed daycares need to determine a sampling plan considering:

total number of fixtures
eligible fixtures
proximity of fixtures
individual fixture identification
